Henry Nowen's parents died when he was an infant and it's possilbe Charles and Martha took him in. Charles had several wives and supposedly married his last wife at age 90 although that wouldn't be correct if his death date is correct. A Charles Loeffler died in Paterson, NJ in July 3, 1958 at age 83. Social Security shows a "life claim" for him on 23 Aug 1945. This would be the date he applied for retirement benefits. Henry Owen is listed as adopted. Obituary also lists step daughters. 1910 cenus lists the family as Toffler When he came to the U.S. he said he was going to see his sister. Mr. Loeffler was 83 years old. Born in Germany, he had been a resident of Paterson for about 60 years. He was retired from the Henry Muhs Company where he was employed as a stationary engineer. He was a member of the Union Avenue Baptist Church.
