He was the father of 'Mat" Barbieri, well known Stony Road barber, and the uncle of Commissioner Sebi Barbieri. Born in Italy June 20. 1872 he was a retired stone cutter. He had resided in this country 49 years and was a member of Our Lady of Pompeii R. C. Church. The funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock from his late home. A half hour later a Solemn High Requiem Mass will at Our Lady of Pompeii Church. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre cemetery, under the direction of the Da Luccla Funeral Service. 506 | Obituary Reginaldo (Rege) C. Barbieri, 58, passed away on September 13, 2009 at his home in Ventnor. He is survived by his son, Byron C., West Paterson; his mother, Dorothy, Egg Harbor City;A Brother Benjamin of North Jersey his sisters Theresa Ann, Reading PA and Dorothy (Barbieri) Scheck, Egg Harbor Township; Robert Scheck, his brother-in-law, Egg Harbor Township; and his two nephews, Justin Scheck and Devin Scheck, both of Egg Harbor Township. Rege was born in Paterson and grew up in Totowa Boro, NJ. He moved to West Paterson after his marriage to Eileen Bouman in 1970. Following his divorce from Eileen, he remained in West Paterson for several years until relocating to Paterson where he lived for 23 years. During this time, he shared his life with Marie Bevilacqua, his loving companion for 26 years. In 2002, he moved to southern NJ to be closer to his mother. Rege was a "true romantic spirit," an artist and poet who created works of art throughout his life. He designed CD covers for local bands, like Black Valentine and Isn't It Always. His murals welcome patrons in N.Y.C. restaurant and signs decorate numerous businesses in Northern N.J. He airbrushed original works of art on shirts, jackets, and other items for hundreds of people and created countless drawings, paintings, poetry and more for family, friends and clients. He worked a variety of jobs that allowed him to continue creating his artwork and writings while not at work. But the two places of employment that allowed him his creativity on the job were Pearl Paint, Bergen County NJ, where he met and made many close friends, and VTS, Egg Harbor Township, where he was able to work on video and film, one of his passions. During his free time, he was a film enthusiast (especially old horror and science fiction films), he loved reading and he loved traveling. He took frequent trips to Jamaica, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Arrangements for the funeral are being made by Atwood Peterson O'Brien Funeral Home. Loving father of Matthew Barbieri and fiance Danielle Massaro of Totowa, Justin Barbieri and wife Alicia of Woodland Park, Michele Grote and husband John of Toms River, and Melanie Barbieri of Totowa. Cherished grandfather of Alex, Matthew, Nicholas, Ella, and Jack. Born in Paterson, he was a lifelong resident of Totowa. He dedicated most of his life to volunteering in the Emergency Medical Services field. He proudly served his community for 47 years as an EMT on the Totowa First Aid Squad. He has held every position in the organization over the years, most recently serving as President. He was also the Director of First Aid for the Borough of Totowa. He served as a delegate, treasurer, and member of various committees for the EMS Council of New Jersey, 17th District for many years. Early on, he was a first aid instructor for the Red Cross and eventually became an EMT instructor in the early 1980's. Bob worked at Barnert Hospital and then Chilton Memorial Hospital for many years as a Nuclear Medicine Technician before becoming a dispatcher for AAA North Jersey in Wayne, where he has worked for the past 11 years. For 35 years, he was employed at Becton Dickinson in East Rutherford and retired at the age of 65 as a senior clerk. He was also the secretary for the union. Mr. Cece loved to dance! Mrs. Barbieri was born in Paterson and lived here her entire life. She worked as a weaver until her retirement six years ago. She was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Stephen's R.C.
